This policy explains how FOUNDRY² uses cookies and similar browser-storage technologies on foundrysquared.com.
What cookies are
Cookies are small pieces of data stored by your browser. Similar technologies, such as local storage, can also remember preferences or state on your device. Some are needed for website features to work; others, such as analytics cookies, are optional.
Cookies and storage used by FOUNDRY²
Likes
- f2_liked_posts — first-party cookie used to remember which posts this browser has liked. It contains post IDs rather than your name or email address. Duration: up to one year.
- f2_liked_comments — first-party cookie used to remember which comments this browser has liked. It contains comment IDs rather than your name or email address. Duration: up to one year.
Comment preferences
If you tick “Save my name and email in this browser for the next time I comment”, WordPress may set first-party comment cookies containing the details you chose to save. This is optional. These cookies are normally retained for around one year unless you remove them sooner.
Theme preference
The website uses browser local storage under the key f2-theme to remember whether you selected light or dark mode. This is not a cookie and does not contain your name or email address. It remains on your device until you change/clear browser storage.
Google Analytics
Where analytics consent is granted and Analytics storage is enabled, Google Analytics may use first-party cookies such as _ga and related _ga_* cookies to distinguish browsers and sessions and produce audience/statistical reports. These cookies can typically remain for up to two years, depending on the Analytics configuration and subsequent use.
If analytics storage is denied through Google Consent Mode, Analytics cookies are not set or read for that purpose. Google may still receive limited cookieless measurement signals depending on the consent-mode configuration.
WordPress administration and security
WordPress may set essential session, login or security cookies for administrators or authenticated users. These are required to provide the requested logged-in functionality and are not used as advertising cookies.
Why we use cookies
We use necessary or functional browser storage to remember visitor choices and provide features such as likes, comment preferences and theme selection. We use optional analytics technologies to understand readership and improve the website.
Your choices
Non-essential analytics cookies require consent where applicable. Our Complianz consent banner allows visitors to accept or deny optional analytics storage and to reopen Cookie Settings later to change that choice. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may reset preferences such as likes or saved comment details.
Cookie consent and Google Analytics
The Privacy Policy and this Cookie Policy explain our use of Analytics, but the policies themselves do not replace a cookie-consent mechanism. FOUNDRY² uses Complianz, WP Consent API and Google Site Kit Consent Mode. Analytics storage is denied by default for UK visitors and is only granted after the visitor accepts the relevant consent category.
Current cookie and service list
The list below is maintained from our Complianz cookie scan and supplements the explanations above.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our cookie use, analytics setup or mailing technology changes. If a new service introduces additional cookies, we will add them here.
